This article sounds alarming, but British Transport Police are right: CCTV alone is not a deterrent to thieves.

Saw this lovely beauty whilst parking up at @spokesafe.bsky.social, part of the Colchester Council's eCargo bike library & 1st one I've seen parked here since starting using it. Also noticing the racks are getting rather crowded with lots of (e)bikes of many types.

Great to see a Beryl hire bike installation by our unit at Stevenage station - turning this space into a real mobility hub.

Nearly every Sheffield stand I have ever seen is either
Bent
Got vandalised bikes
Have bikes stolen from them
Are used as toilets
Rarely in the right place
Means I have to carry my body weight in Bicycle locks
Naw, gi’me proper secure bicycle parking

Yesterday was an interesting day cycling to work & back, unfortunately it was busy so fell asleep when I got home & not post this. Yesterday morning I got an email from Spokesafe to inform me of an issue with my designated parking. No biggie really as they were happy to let me lock up at another

The perfect bike stand.
The Sheffield stand is already great as it provides locking points at front and back.
But its flaw is if it's removed from the ground due you can just slip the locks off the bottom.
This fixes that with a bar.
Now, a thief would have to steal your bike *and* the stand.

I'm enjoying the £10/month subscription to park my ebike securely whilst working & have a safe secure place to park if I ever shop in Colchester city centre too. And having a monthly subscription, I also have a designated rack so guaranteed to have a spot every time I need it.
