I sent my lad off to school today in green socks and a cap, as the school celebrates some great environmental work the kids have been doing.

The grown ups need to get their arses in gear, and fast.

“A world at 2.6C means global disaster,” said Bill Hare, CEO of Climate Analytics.

“That all means the end of agriculture in the UK and across Europe, drought and monsoon failure in Asia and Africa, lethal heat and humidity.”

Met with some asylum seekers last week.
They were amazing/lovely/awesome/complex.
Their stories were harrowing.
The volunteers helping them are wonderful.

Won't somebody please think of the motorists?

It's interesting that the 'sustainable solution' to concerns is an online parents evening, rather than, ya know, people finding other ways to travel

A decade after the Paris climate accord was signed, political support for it is fraying across the West. Yet the global shift to clean energy is barreling ahead—driven largely by China.

Plugging my laptop in at a council meeting last night... a Labour councillor says to me 'I hope that's green electricity you're using!'

Deeply weird. Reflects their own guilt at things in their own life that they could be doing, but probably aren't because... reasons 🤷‍♂️

Discuss.

Really useful scheme from @nestauk.bsky.social. If you know a boiler/heating engineer, send them the link. The more that can experience the benefits of a heat pump in their own homes the better 😎

Babies born today may well live to see more than 6 feet of additional sea level rise in their lifetimes.

Walk any beach or port and imagine the normal water level being six feet higher.

Then imagine how much higher the storm surges will be.
In summary, the outlook is grim. It is highly likely that Thwaites Glacier will eventually be lost, which will destabilise adjoining parts of the West Antarctic Ice Sheet, increasing the committed long-term rise in global mean sea level by more than 3 m.

I remember doing a thread on the old, dead website that wondered if habitual drivers actually *like* congestion, even if they might complain about it to friends, family and the internet about it.

This ad goes some way to explaining things
Trapped in traffic and stuck travelling long distances to work because of car-centric planning?

Be grateful, says Mercedes-Benz’s latest advert which aims to persuade us that spending two years of our lives stuck inside a car is somehow actually a good thing.
