@prisonculture.bsky.social and I have been encouraging people to read chapter six of our book, Let This Radicalize You, which deals with the question of "violence" in social movements. We have decided to share the chapter publicly, to offer some context and grounding for the current conversation.

Every flashbang could instead be a meal for a poor kid. Every hotel room for a National Guardsman deployed to fire at our neighbors could house a homeless vet. Every "less-than-lethal" bullet pulled from a journalist's eye could be already needed healthcare for anyone else. All of this is a choice.

5 years after George Floyd's murder, don't forget that abolition was always the right call. Dismantle the infrastructure that arrests, surveils, beats, cages, and kills and build a society that takes care of our human needs and allows everyone to thrive. 1/4

We Still Need to Defund and Abolish the Police
"Defund the Police" came into the spotlight during the 2020 George Floyd uprisings. Despite what conservatives and pro-police propagandists say, "defund" never happened. But it should—because the poli...

A ton of the perceived middle class lifestyle is about to be affected. People who thought they were doing well and won’t be affected are going to have actual poverty problems. Your kids can’t get what they want. You can’t rely on an employer to take care of you. You can’t afford loans.

The richest 0.1% of Americans control $22 trillion in wealth.

The bottom 50% control $3.8 trillion in wealth.

Read that back.

Folks, this is what oligarchy looks like.

"This is a drastic escalation and dangerous new front in Trump's authoritarian campaign of trying to bully, intimidate, and impeach judges who won't follow his dictates. We must do whatever we can to defend the independent judiciary in America."
FLAG: Kash Patel says the FBI has arrested Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Hannah Dugan and charged her with obstructing an immigration operation.

It's the first known instance in Trump's second term of DOJ prosecuting a local official for allegedly interfering with immigration enforcement.

MUTUAL AID FOR SURVIVAL & RESISTANCE
Why the heck do we talk about mutual aid so much? No - it's not going to fix everything. But it is a critical part of our resistance, and, most of all, it helps us to reframe our methods of organizing for change. Thank you to @deanspade.bsky.social for this info.
