Did you know the “weekend” and working only 8 hours per day used to be considered a radical, liberal idea?

139 years ago today, in Bay View, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, 7 workers (including a 13 yo) lost their lives to advance this revolutionary idea.

ICE officers are now reportedly required to meet arrest quotas each day, from a few hundred to between 1,200 and 1,500 nationwide. Jonathan Blitzer reports on the mystery of the agency’s unidentifiable arrests.

Literally every single school district I have worked with has or has had some kind of secretive list from the police gang unit alleging many of their students are gang involved, often based on things as out of their control as what street they live on.
do people not realize that the past four decades of US policing legislation PR and practice have made the allegation that someone is a “gang member” entirely subject to the whims of the state

15 years ago the Supreme Court decided corporations are people under the First Amendment.

Today, billionaire political spending is up 160-fold since that ruling.

Citizens United is among the worst decisions in history. It corrupts our system every day.

This administration’s deep antipathy toward transmissible conditions, the communities placed most at risk, and related prevention/mitigation measures is all rooted in othering (e.g., for HIV-Black, brown, queer, trans), eugenic logic (e.g., for COVID-older, immunocompromised) and individualism.

Marco Rubio just announced 10 more people were sent to be imprisoned in CECOT. They were flown there from Gitmo to be imprisoned potentially for life based not on any crime for which they were convicted, but on unproven allegations of gang membership with no due process.

This is not lawful.

This is an excellent article that makes me want to throw up.
Trump has been racking up some procedural "wins" at the Supreme Court and the answer for why is simple: John Roberts is a feckless coward. He's like a cop in Uvalde, cowering outside waiting for the shooting to stop, instead of doing his job.
