This convo I had highlights the difference in what "respect your time" means in games.

A lot of players want to trade time for in-game progress. It's purely transactional: 1 hour = 1 progress

But I want to feel like my actions matter i.e. what I do with time creates progress, not time itself.

I have no metrics or analytics to say about how effective they are, but my take is most games shouldn't do it (especially for an announce trailer) and that they're best as a victory lap for games that are already successful.

It's been a while.

Glad to be announcing a new game, and happy that it is something experimental and weird: a tiny, tense, turn-based strategy game about merging units into spectacular combinations, and then watching them evaporate thousands of bugs.

Turns out making a #turnbased #mockup is more addictive than I thought.
Here are some updates: I reworked the cliff tiles, but the new version was too detailed compared to the unit sprites so i scrapped it. 😅
What do you guys think?

game genres are so fuzzy and confusing...what's an Action Adventure game?? what do you actually do in an RPG?? to fix this, i got together with loads of my lovely friends to create a much more descriptive classification system. all games can be neatly placed into the New Genres
