I’ve got my first #astrophotography composition baking in Siril right now looking forward to how it turns out. 583 2.5 second exposures for a total of 24.3 minutes integration (didn’t plan just sat outside with my camera until I couldn’t stand the cold anymore)

Looking at the Aurora forecast for tonight and wondering if rather than worry about being too tired to drive home I should just pack a sleeping bag, my jet boil, some coffee and snacks and just sleep in the car

Maybe it’s my privilege of having a mom in education and a father who was a long time scout leader but I was raised with a healthy respect for the water and can think of several occasions where that’s kept me safe

A quiet tall dude stopped to admire our flower garden when I was coming in from taking photos last night, told me so and I said “cool, enjoy!” I should have made friends, not often you come across a fellow pollinator garden appreciator

I picked up a new lens for birding, it’s got a little more reach than my former main but the big seller is the sharpness. It’s a prime so the optical elements don’t move to the same degree as a zoom so they can be more finely tuned (though as tech advances that gap is getting smaller)

Since Bill 5 passed in Ontario amid outcry from everyone who could be negatively impact (read: all of us except those it stands to enrich) I’ve seen an entire family of geese run down on the road and our favourite beach absolutely covered in dead fish

Anything goes in Doug Ford’s special economic zones!
Just attempted our first beach day of the year and the entire shoreline of North Beach is littered with little dead fish. I cannot believe the beach is open in this state. There were dead fish floating in the water too. Extraordinarily unsettling.

Sometimes when parenting the days seem to just melt into one another and then one afternoon they learn something completely new or really master something they’ve been working on (in this case biking without training wheels) and there is a sense of a very clear delineation between then and now
