Erstwhile full-time scientist.
Next year marks 50 years since I started a diary. I resist the temptation to switch from longhand to digital, especially now that my handwriting is so bad that it's its own form of encryption.

Increasingly convinced the main damage cell phones have done to creativity isn't decreased attention spans or what not but the elimination of productive boredom. Inspiration comes from the mind filling the void inside. Hard to make art when you're constantly silencing the silence with "content."

Given the headlines (or lack thereof) at @nytimes.com these days, was sort of surprised that "foxnation" wasn't a Pangram on today's Spelling Bee word list.

If a foreign adversary snuck into our Federal budget and cut science research and education the way we’re cutting it ourselves — strategically undermining America’s long-term health, wealth, and security — we would likely consider it an act of war.

As a golfer, there's another way to look at the Sam Snead analogy. Give short putts early so your opponent doesn't get a feel for the greens.

Since I administered the WH emoluments rules, let me explain why this is forbidden

Trump expressed interest in it before it was offered

He is going to use & benefit from it a while in office

And he's going to keep using it after he leaves!

Functionally, it's a gift to him & so it's illegal
Overseeing the presidential gift rules was among my duties as White House Ethics Czar -- so I know how it's supposed to work

The gift of this plane to Trump is illegal & unconstitutional

The AG & the WH Counsel oughtta be ashamed of themselves for allowing it

Here’s my experience with a former ICE agent. I was volunteering as a facilitator at a leadership camp for high school juniors. This retired ICE agent was responsible for dividing the attendees into groups of 8 students who did not know each other. (1/5) 🧵

A new WSJ chart says it all: Trump’s auto taxes hit Ford and GM hardest, Toyota and Hyundai less—and make Elon Musk the biggest winner. Billionaire donor in, American workers out. This isn’t economic policy. It’s a heist.

🚨Trump's tariff maths is 'Flawed'🚨

Trump’s administration is focusing too much on trade deficit & not “factoring in” America’s financial services.

Important to remember that the reason most Trump voters think everything's fine is that their chosen media is telling them little more than that he's cutting government waste and frogmarching criminals out of the country. Real information doesn't reach them. An economic collapse? That might.
