a lot of people on the "anti-war" left sincerely seem to believe that war is always worse than oppression, that somehow there's always going to be some magical peaceful solution to a boot stomping on a face forever, or that boot-stomping is always preferable to conflict. i reject this.

It has long been known that Russian soldiers returning from Ukrainian captivity are not allowed to go home, but are sent straight to the trenches.
They are considered unreliable and must "atone" for their guilt at having been taken prisoner.

I went back to Xitter for a bit there - but back here now and logged out over there after once again, the level of Nazism,Fascism, and Stupidism of all kinds on that site was not worth it. I wish there were more finance / stock related accounts here, but not worth my sanity to stay over there

BREAKING: A few minutes ago, a vehicle of three people was rammed by a truck belonging to federal immigration authorities in Boyle Heights, CA. According to security footage shown to me, they deployed chemical munitions & detained the driver at gunpoint. All are US citizens according to the wife.

He’s too left leaning on policy for my taste, but if I was still in NYC I’d vote for him in the primary in a heartbeat after watching this clip.

Misunderstanding of what’s happening. This idea was true on April 9th/10th when he did the 90 day pause. What’s happening now is the fact the uncertainty is over, it’s now clear that the WH is not willing to destroy the economy for their vision, and they are willing to back down for very little.
This is such a good point. The markets are weirdly resilient because traders are behaving like degenerate gamblers: worried that the next bet will be the one that hits big, and they’ll miss it, rather than the fact that they’re betting their whole house on a longshot that’s looking worse by the day.
People think that what Wall Street guys fear is being in the market as it crashes, but the thing that's in all of their heads is the opposite - fear of missing out on the fast market rebound as Trump turns everything around, as many did in 2020 during Covid.

Knowing Russian prison lingo and culture is basically necessary now to understand the broader Russian culture and Russian lingo since they’re the same now
Knowing russian prison lingo is apparently a must if you want to understand russian telegram channels and somehow it is a tool in my arsenal
