I’m so glad to have found the #EduSky community after the great Twitter implosion. Bluesky keeps getting better, and I think I'm going to set down roots. So, here's a bit of a reintroduction.

Welcome back, @pernille.bsky.social! Good to have you blogging again.

Young people rarely get practice with deciding when and how to reject adults' ideas because we fail to explicitly offer them no as an option and our system is implicitly(?) authoritarian. Thank you for this reminder. #EduSky
Hey, I'm back on my blog where it all started. Small ideas, practical posts, and all the things I am trying.

Let's talk about feedback, or more specifically about kids being given the chance to reject your feedback.

Let Kids Reject Feedback (Yes, Really!)
What if kids had the right to ignore our feedback? Not because they’re stubborn or disengaged, but because they understand it—and decide to make a different choice. Too often, feedback feels like a…

NEW: AOC in Vegas.

Major challenge to Dem leadership🔥

“If you’re willing to fight for someone you don’t know, you’re welcome here. But I will say this: Those leaders on either side of aisle willing to put their fellow Americans down so they can get ahead; they may best find a home somewhere else.”

Aside from the obvious direct harm, what's so irritating is that a handful of spoiled ignorant assholes are breaking things that we all built together. They weren't content to own almost everything, they had to wreck what little they didn't own. It's vandalism on a mass scale and has to be punished

I'm biased, but this song crafted by one of my #Civics students about one of the neglected amendments in the Bill of Rights is kind of a banger. 🎶🪖 #EduSky

imo the left really needs to put a lot more effort into organizing veterans, especially now. they aren’t a political monolith, and a lot of them are getting screwed over right now.

I do believe we’re facing a generational problem. We have Dems who’ve been in office so long that they think their job is just to get elected in the next cycle and not to govern and wield power. They worry too much about what Rs might weaponize and as a result they refuse to fight.

I kinda think a Dem voting for *anything* on the GOP agenda—a Trump nominee, Al Green censure, anything—functions basically as an endorsement of the ongoing destruction of government. Republicans are the people who can stop him, and they're just fully on board with a coup. You can't join their side!

If they can bring down the US Department of Education, they will be emboldened to bring down your state department of education, your local school board.

The target is public education itself, folks.

My grandmother was born in Birmingham, AL in 1929. She awoke at 8years old at a cousin's house to see her uncle leaving the house in a full KKK uniform. She spoke out, she raised her kids differently. We can do this. We must do this.
I’ve been using WeCroak (wecroak.com) to help keep me grounded in the present moment since it launched in 2017. Sometimes, the quotes it sends me are so timely as to feel a bit eerie. (h/t to the great @jeffvandermeer.bsky.social for writing this one in the first place)
