New in PN: The worst chief justice of all time

"American history has no shortage of legendarily bad chief justices and disgraceful decisions. But John Roberts has overseen the wholesale corruption and capture of the Supreme Court, and history should look back on his tenure with revulsion."

ICE officers are now reportedly required to meet arrest quotas each day, from a few hundred to between 1,200 and 1,500 nationwide. Jonathan Blitzer reports on the mystery of the agency’s unidentifiable arrests.

there really is no alternative to tearing up CBP and ICE root and branch
A US citizen with a learning disability who has just suffered a medical emergency asks a CBP officer for directions outside the emergency room. He ends up detained in an icebox for ten days and has the assistant secretary of DHS lying about him to the public at large. popular.info/p/us-citizen...

If the USA selected the President and all Cabinet members by picking names of random US citizens out of a hat, the country would be better run than it is at present.
A complete meltdown: The Pentagon is in “chaos” as Hegseth loses four staffers in a single day.

Who could have predicted that appointing an unqualified TV host with no relevant experience and a history of drinking problems to lead the Department of Defense would end in disaster?

What we all just witnessed had all the earmarks of a criminal conspiracy to deprive Abrego-Garcia of his constitutional rights, as well as an impeachable offense. The fraud scheme was a phony agreement engineered by the US to have Bukele say he lacks power to return Abrego Garcia and he won't do it.

Please don’t underestimate how much FUN Donald Trump, Salvadoran dictator Nayib Bukele, Stephen Miller and Pam Bondi had today pissing on the grave of Abrego Garcia—a permanent legal resident of America with no record, a US-citizen wife, and 3 US-citizen kids.

This is their JAM.

This is *extremely* alarming — White House fires a career federal prosecutor because he (1) went after a politically connected businessman and (2) criticized Trump during a 2020 congressional bid.

(🧵) THREAD from a Trump and Musk biographer.

More than any men in America, Trump and Musk target for retribution anyone who crosses them.

And more than anyone, these two complain about media using anonymous sources to report on them.

It’s worth taking a moment and sit with those two statements.
