Fair review. Only minor quibble with gig was the mix of Jonny’s guitar which was a bit too quiet sometimes

Absolute icon, groundbreaker, innovator and one of the most awful gigs I’ve ever attended 🤣
Grandmaster Flash will revisit his journey through hip-hop in a new memoir set for release next year. 'Birth of a Culture' will chart one of the founding fathers of hip-hop's rise, as well as look back at the birth of the genre.

Mani was that rare breed of musician where any band he was in was improved by virtue of him being in it. I saw the XTRMNTR configuration of Primal Scream, in which he played bass, in Liverpool c. April 2000 and it was one of the best shows I've seen this century. RIP. www.youtube.com/watch?v=OMiX...

RIP Mani
I was thinking about this the other day - from his Primal Scream days, in 1997 - If They Move Kill 'Em, on Later with Jools Holland. It sounds - and looks - like the entire performance is being powered by Mani himself and everyone else wants to go home.

What's the first thing you hear on that debut album, after the opening bit of ambient/semi-industrial noise?

The bass. That was the key.

What really sad news about Mani. His playing on many things made him a legend but when you’re the bassist on The Stone Roses and XTRMTR your legacy is firmly secured.
