Nah. No "politician" pushed any of these things thru out of the kindness of their heart. You're giving politicians credit that should be going to community activists and working class people.
No policy has ever been perfect but Medicare, Medicaid, social security, environmental regulations, the creation of national parks system, the establishment of public schools, etc are all the result of politicians doing policy. If you want universal healthcare politicians will have to do policy.
