I'm revealing my big ttrpg project soon, and I need my followers to appreciate why it's taken so long. This week I'm doing my final pass over the (tr)ashcan edition, sitting at 140 pages with no almost art, no GM materials, and minimal setting fluff. It is a big and absurd game for tactics perverts.

Something I think about occasionally is how miserable college has to be now even if you're a good person and commit to never using AI to cheat on anything- I hear shit about having to write essays with a webcam and screenshare on and this stuff absolutely woulda made me quit years sooner than I did.

Design protip: if you have a cool power don't gate it behind multiple months of gaming lmao

There's a common phenomenon in *mainly* dnd & trpgs descended therefrom, which i'll call a problem (but others don't see that way), which is the huge level gulfs (and resultant weeks or months or eternities) between when a feature is gained and when a build "comes online".

excellent thread. There's a lot to u pack with the phrase "coming online," but in general I think if your character/build/whatever feels "offline" at any point, I think that's evidence of bad design. You can just make the game fun and engaging from the start!

I know this sounds insane but is it just me or is soda getting less carbonated? both times I bought a 2L bottle of pepsi this week it was not that fizzy after opening it, and went completely flat the next day. Has anything like this ever happened to you guys

We have cable at my house (our roommate is a sports guy, so he pays for the TV package) and if you feel this way, trust me you're not missing much. What you probably miss is living in more of an entertainment monoculture where we aren't all alienated online in different realities
I'm gonna say something controversial but... I miss cable. I miss being able to put a channel on the TV and have it change shows. Even the commercials for some reason I miss. Like im missing out on society.
