James Bond’s death in No Time to Die is causing a nightmare for the next film. Writers are stuck because Bond “was blown to pieces.”

Anthony Horowitz, author of three 007 novels, says:

“You can't have him wake up in shower and saying it was all a dream."

Anthony Horowitz watching BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE: "What? But how is Batman back after faking his death and retiring to Europe with Catwoman?!"

Abigail has already articulated this better than me.
Hard to imagine a better articulation of how fannish brain has broken Hollywood. How is Bond back after dying in the last movie? Because he’s a fictional character and we’re not done telling stories about him.

Seems bad that professional writers are so canon-pilled that they can't conceive of episodic stories around a character disconnected from larger continuity. No-one cares about Bond "lore": that's not a thing that matters in the slightest.

I couldn't pinpoint why but I blame the MCU for this.

Casino Royale is genuinely a great film. Take or leave the other 20 or so.

Even that is a metatextual manoeuvre too far. The audience can have that metatext in their heads but there's no reason for a film to acknowledge it. Just make a Bond film.

Copim (www.linkedin.com/company/copim/) and Open Book Collective (www.linkedin.com/company/open...) are a good place to start.

Might as well. It's not like it's cold outside.
