Started a simple tarot reading and immediately drew the equivalent of the Joker which probably shouldn't have been in the deck. Seems bad.

A bugbear with Avanti West Coast's comms: 'Do not travel north of Preston' does not mean the same thing as 'Do not travel north of Preston on the West Coast Main Line'.

That's better.

Heading into the Arrochar Alps today because I'm like a Sim and my 'Mountains' gauge has become dangerously depleted. I need to see mountains every so often or I go all weird.

The publisher knocked this cover out of the park: that is one incredulous-looking priest.

One of the more interesting terms of use I've seen attached to open source licensed software. The developer (Oleksii Holub) acknowledges in further documentation that this is more akin to a code of conduct than a legal license. https://github.com/Tyrrrz/YoutubeDownloader/

Went to a very interesting lecture on mad studies and outsider art at the Centre for Mad Culture in Edinburgh. Fascinated by the religious and apocalyptic undertones to a lot of the art produced by people in German institutions in the early 20th Century.

I don't have to imagine not knowing what platform my train has been changed to or if it's running late because I've been to Preston station.

While it was in town, we took a trip to see the Inspiration exhibition train that's working its way around Britain to celebrate 200 years of the modern railway. https://railway200.co.uk/inspiration/

We're setting up at the ServPub Collective Infrastructures for Publishing event here in London. Excited for a day of discussing experimental publishing and autonomous tech.

Started the day by going up a mountain. We drove most of the way up so only climbed about 2 metres of elevation but still.

One of the little installations was this 'spider's web' and it thoroughly trapped me in it.

We're staying in a lovely wee glen and the owners of the estate have put all sorts of art installations around. Yesterday we used the wood-fired hot tub and today I went most of the way up Clachnaben.

It has been 0 days since I last accidentally drove up a mountain. Specifically this was the Cairn o' Mount Pass which the Scottish Tourist Board describes as an "adventurous" road.

Learning a lot from the far-right here 🤔
September 20, 2025 at 1:53 PM
The far-right have this flag that has Jesus being crucified on a Union Flag. Which strikes me as mixed messaging.

Fash overwhelmed by anti-fascists in Glasgow. As always, we're joyful, singing ABBA and chanting, and the fascists are just standing gloomily, not even bothering to chant or sing.

Thanks, Microsoft, but I'll turn this off because I'm a competent adult and was recruited for my role partly because I can do all these things unassisted.

macOS Tahoe is macOS version 26 and is the 22nd major release of macOS. It is the successor to macOS version 15. Clear?

I'm watching this because we watched THE LONG WALK last night (really tremendous, go see it) and I remarked afterwards that it was annoying that all the publicity and the credits said it was adapted from a novel by Stephen King. Glad to see they cared about accuracy back in 1987.

Started THE RUNNING MAN and had an idea for a podcast where I review films that were once set in the future but are now set in our past with a particular focus on determining what historical event diverged to produce this alternate timeline.
