A friend who teaches theology shared with me a post about CS Lewis's Mere Christianity, which discusses foundational Christian logic across denominations. It reminded me of Dale's tweet below, and I wanted to share some thoughts here regarding modesty and respectability, which are often hot topics.

I wanted to offer some thoughts on the Gates climate memo that has been circulating this week. While I can't directly speak for others, I can say that my own response is one of dismay & deep frustration (and that this view is shared by many climate/Earth scientists). [1/n]

HEY FRIENDS

Here's a new @crikey.com.au piece: on how Google's shallow CCS gamble marks a moment where the ancient rituals of fossil industry greenwashing are passed down to big tech and its obscene expansionist energy greed!!

A lil thread for ya

Incredible turnout! The brown snake subdued by one wrapped in red, green, white and black.
Enormous pro-Palestine march in Brisbane. Hugely diverse group of marchers. Determined but peaceful with clear calls for action. The only counter protest seemed to be three blokes on a bridge overlooking it. 🤷🏻‍♀️ #FreePalestine

March for Palestine rally over Brisbane's Victoria Bridge is absolutely huge. Thank you to all Australians in Brisbane & around the country marching today against Israel’s genocide. Anyone not standing with Palestine at this point in time is clearly on the fringe. #FreePalestine

NEW from me: Clean energy growth helped China’s CO2 emissions fall 1% year-on-year in the first half of 2025, extending a declining trend that started in March 2024. Power sector CO2 fell 3% as growth in solar power alone matched the rise in electricity demand.
🇨🇳 📰 NEW | Analysis: Record solar growth keeps China’s CO2 falling in H1 2025

Israel destroyed a Palestinian seed bank today. This is such a specific kind of evil, targeting literal hope for the future. Attempting to further alienate Palestinians from their home and land. So much destroyed just for the sake of destroying. It's awful.

“Bravery is contagious “
I wonder how many countries will announce they will recognise Palestine statehood before Australia shows some ‘leadership’.

Doing it late is better than not doing it, but must we always expect the least from our governments?

Bravery is contagious. Would be good if Australia could help spread some
