Sad to hear some members of the @houseoflords.parliament.uk willing to undermine the protection of bats and dismiss the important role they play as part of our natural heritage. We need evidence based legislation that recognises the economic, social and cultural value of wildlife protection.
The Planning and Infrastructure Bill resumes the Lords committee stage tomorrow (Thursday 4th September). We have written a briefing which outlines the problems with the Bill and the potential solution. You can download and read the full briefing here: cdn.bats.org.uk/uploads/pdf/...

Morning.

Let's start the week with some late-Victorian South East London crime.

A crime so shocking it'll make your eyes water.

The result is the biggest upset in Greenwich politics for a generation and follows a row over the Labour council's land sales in the ward.

In its Planning and Infrastructure Bill the Government seems determined to do what Owen Patterson tried to do to nature in 2014. It was nonsense then and it's nonsense now, and deeply damaging to our environment. Here's what I wrote at the time. e-shootershill.co.uk/2014/01/09/w...

It had been my absolute pleasure representing residents in Shooters Hill since May 2022 and Woolwich Commom between May 2018-2022.
