Plans for a bigger housing development behind the new Woolwich Waves leisure centre have been approved amid worries about the future of the Sikh temple behind the site.

The scheme includes the demolition of the old Bull pub, branded a "dump" by one councillor.

Three of Greenwich Council’s five adventure play centres face closure under plans to save £600,000 per year from town hall budgets.

More than 50 trees on Woolwich Common that were set to be chopped down have been given a reprieve - at least for now - after an application to widen a road was taken off a planning committee’s agenda.

Plans for a new cycle lane had received over 500 objections.

Three new Docklands Light Railway trains have been taken out of service after one overshot a platform in wet weather.

The long-awaited B23 trains started running between Stratford International and Woolwich just six weeks ago.

The Waterfront Leisure Centre will be knocked down and sold for housing, Greenwich Council has confirmed.

The centre, a local landmark since 1988, is due to close after the new Woolwich Waves facility opens next month.

Rail travellers from Woolwich and Abbey Wood will face disruption this weekend as the Elizabeth Line closes for engineering works.

Over 500 people have objected to plans to fell more than 50 trees to create a cycle lane at Woolwich Common – with the local London Cycling Campaign branch also unhappy.

The part-time low-traffic neighbourhood in Greenwich and Blackheath will be made permanent after a panel of Labour councillors rejected challenges to the scheme.
