Other thoughts, from some time ago.
School is just (ostensibly and ideally) a systematized manner of providing a standardized base minimum level of essential bits and bobs of things for children to enter the workforce (and ostensibly, to be responsible citizens) I want to share an analogy that has helped me a lot, not in terms of deep profound epistemological revelation, but just in terms of practicality about things. Your mind is a workshop. There is an anvil acting as your workbench in the middle of it. In all the cupboards, on the walls, on your belt, in your pocket, held between your teeth, attached to your body and on mail-order from Sears are all of the tools. What you are thinking about rests on the anvil. You have to apply the pieces of knowledge you know to it to produce something out of whatever it is you're trying to think about. You might need to know how to apply that knowledge in a coherent way, or you're going to break something or bend it wrong. You need to know which pieces of knowledge are even relevant. But you can use a lot of different pieces of knowledge, and you should be more than unhesitant to suddenly switch your paradigm and start thinking about something in an entirely different way. e.g. Thinking about your diet from a nutritional standpoint vs. thinking about it from a spiritual kind of standpoint. When you have trauma on the anvil. You have no fucking idea what you're looking at. It's not even like your 10mm sockets went missing again. You have screwdrivers for flathead, philips, star and even decagon. This box has screws that are in the outline of a still frame from Texas Chainsaw Massacre. You need to be very careful approaching this box because you're definitely going to break something if you force it with what you have, but you also do need to get it done because this is taking up way too much space in the workshop and it's awkward moving around it every day. You will likely have to make a bespoke tool for the matter yourself, and while there's a lot of youtube videos on how to mill the world's most fucked up screwdriver for these weird situations, no one is offering custom commission. You just have to do it yourself.

We are in one of the many possible moments of silence now. This was a predictable one, and I am keeping it together very well. You never know when these will arrive and you will often forget you do need them. As much as I think it'd be better to stick to my plans, we will pause, because the plan will come as expectedly as now. This entire thing, and particularly these brief moments of rest where you can take it in, is one of the most profoundly disgusting things there is, in terms of the full bouquet of qualia and just what you are left to contemplate. It is one of the most disgusting and off-putting things to talk to someone about, save those who also know, and then they don't want to hear it, because why would they want to think about these? When I look in the mirror, there is an orchestra of ommatidia. They are trying what my sensory organs are; desperately constructing some barely acceptable but coherent form of reality out of the vast electromagnetic spectrum, out of the trace chemicals in this vibrating air, and of my body reporting some kind of harm is being done somewhere in my joints and my abdomen. There is a feeling on my soft tissues and thinner chitin, like the wax made from paraffin maybe, and I know I messed up because I am having this sensation. Like everyone else does. Every time. No matter how well planned it is. There is a taste I might describe as citrus, but I might also describe it as the texture of an off-white drop ceiling. When I think about each circumstance, in logical order and then weighing averages, I can see very easily how we arrived here. How every material thing precedes the next consequence. Atoms clacking atop the surface of probability tables—outliers getting noted. I look at the eyes of the person I see in the mirror, I don't know how I've ended up here.
