Throwback Thursday…

At President Biden’s final State of the Union address, he backed the entire Republican Party into a corner, forcing them to deny that they were planning to slash Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid—just to hand billionaires a trillion-dollar tax cut. He knew!

Frost: Tonight the people stealing are not folks with tattoos and hoodies but people wearing suits and ties and congressional pins sitting in the capitol now, not in some alley wrapped in darkness but the United States congress wrapped in the flag. It is disgusting and we will never forget this.

Autism isn’t an epidemic. It's not a disease. It’s a natural variation in how people think…which, frankly, is a relief in a world where most people don't think at all.

I won’t share RFK Jr.’s lies about autism.

It’s disgusting and dangerous.

If he had a shred of decency, he would apologize and resign.

Autistic people contribute every day to our nation’s greatness.

To every kid with autism, I’m in this fight all the way for you.

RFK Jr. is very loud and very WRONG about Autism.

1. It’s not a disease
2. There are thousands of people with Autism Spectrum Disorder who pay taxes, have jobs, can use the bathroom on their own, and are thriving in life.

Early intervention is critical for newborn babies and parents. That’s changing under Trump.

• CDC’s newborn hearing program cut — states may lose follow-up care
• Genetic screening panel disbanded — fewer rare conditions caught early
• Maternal health survey scrapped — less data to improve outcomes

Those trying to understand the tariffs as economic policy are dangerously naive.

No, the tariffs are a tool to collapse our democracy. A means to compel loyalty from every business that will need to petition Trump for relief.

Is Head Start in danger?
In 1965, President Lyndon Johnson launched “Project Head Start,” a summer program intended to help children from low-income families prepare for school. Sixty years later, Head Start has expanded into a multi-billion program operating in all 50 states, serving preschoolers as well as infants, toddlers and pregnant women. But the program is facing serious challenges, such as recent disruptions in federal funding, and cuts among staffers who oversee the program. In a recent feature story, reporter Anya Kamenetz delved into Head Start’s uncertain future. I asked Anya what she learned from her reporting.

The day has come—and on Tuesday, Wisconsinites will answer that question. 🧵
