There are reports that the *entire* office of special education at the US Dept of Education has been cut. These hardworking folks ensure kids with disabilities get equal access to a quality education.

America’s children deserve better than this.

NEW: Under Trump, the Department of Education has been bringing in activists hostile to public schools.

It could mean a new era of private and religious schools boosted by tax dollars — and the end of public schools as we know them.

The contempt they have for disabled children is rooted in a mistaken belief that there aren't too many of them.

Estimates show that between 1-in-8 and 1-in-5 students in America have some kind of learning disability.

There are an awful lot of SPED families out here, and we will *fight* this shit.
Jessica: When I hear Republicans out there talking about their plan for education in America, I don't hear them talking about making sure disabled kids have access to a public education.

Greg: Because we're against it.

Just got off the phone with Rep. Melanie Stansbury (D-N.M.), who said Elon Musk's DOGE team is "actively dismantling" federal Department of Education programs today.

"They are in the building, on the 6th floor, canceling grants and contracts."

I do not recall a 24 hour or one week news cycle with more disturbing news about the state of the presidency and the US government in it than those of today and the past seven days. January 6 was nothing compared to this. But make no mistake, this too is the gov't being torn apart by a mob of thugs.

With so much going on right now, it’s hard to know where to focus your attention. But Donald Trump shutting down both the White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention and the Federal School Safety Advisory Board endangers America’s children and we really should be talking about that more.

The Trump administration disbanded a board that advises agencies on school safety strategies. Members include parents of school shooting victims.
