My friend Nancy recused an awesome stray cat, but it needed some significant vet care and the bills are piling up. If you could throw even a little cash Nancy's way, you'd be helping both her and the kitty a lot. Please repost this. Thanks.

JFC. Don’t do this to authors, people.
I did a thread a few weeks ago of "authors link your stuff" & one of my author friends who is one emergency away from being homeless had a massive spike in downloads on Anna's Archive from people *who follow me* complaining about how they are poor & should be allowed to steal from other poor people

Rickert is fantastic & this is one of my favorite stories

#booksky
We're revisiting our back catalogue and the ONLY original novel we've published—M. Rickert's "The Shipbuilder of Bellfairie." This exquisite mystery is an amalgam of Frankenstein, and A Confederacy of Dunces. We want you to read it. The eBook is on sale for just $2.

Information Age-aspects merge with folk- and grief horror into something refreshingly new and exciting in this Norwegian horror book.

Skrømt by Per Hohle:
Effectively ‘testimonies’ from people who’ve supposedly experienced hauntings in some famous (and not-so-famous) spots in Norway. No dramatics, just ‘person x experienced the following *insert place*’

After Lambana: Myth and Magic in Manila by Eliza Victoria might not be easiest entry point to Filipino folklore nor Victoria’s work but it’s a gem for those of us already steeped in her writing +the artwork by Mervin Malonzo is gorgeous

The Woman Who Had Two Navels & Tales of the Tropical Gothic by Nick Joaquin. Few stories are as quintessentially Filipino as the ones found in this collection. Not easy reading material, but a good one even if not everything resonated

The Library at Hellebore by Cassandra Khaw:
Some fairly decent eldritch body horror but I’m starting to think dark academia just isn’t quite my jam. Khaw did better than most to make me enjoy it tho

-1st book out of my Filipino-TBR & a great one at that. I’m still trying to shake the unease and heartbreak a few of these stories left me with.

Galgedans (‘Gallow’s Dance) by T.H. Håvardsen.
6th Norwegian read of the year. Although there’s parts of this I enjoyed, it is a fairly simplistic slasher that leans a bit too heavily on gore and looses a lot of the tension in the process for me.

Mom’s enjoying the latest Robert McCammon so much and said “I’ve done nothing today; just napped, read, napped, read…”

Starting a new read by an author from the Philippines.

-This book has been through a lot on its way to me in Norway. Namely: Got a bit water damaged due to torrential rain in the Phils. But hey, with that title I suppose it was really asking for it.
