-I mostly post about (horror)books and cats. Sometimes I review the odd read.
-🚫DMs unless we know each other
The back cover is also a nice touch (basically a darker shadowy side of Manila compared to the front).

80th read of 25:
Stray Cats by Irene Sarmiento is a Filipino novel that makes some fairly hefty issues like class divide, trafficking & abuse accessible to younger readers without talking down to them. Quite amazing in what it does. Also: talking cat

The Sundowner’s Dance by @toddkeisling.com
-Things get cosmically outta hand at a retirement community. I think I picked a great Keisling to start with & I’m looking forward to reading more of his stories

Vindens Datter, Bjørnens Bror by Øyvind Myhre:
I did not have Neanderthal romantasy/histfic on my list of things I imagined I’d read this year, but there you go.

Terrarium by Tobias Strøm-Blakstad is an enjoyable paranoia-inducing psychological thriller dealing with loss and toxic friendships.

The Shadow Dancers of Brixton Hill by @nicolewillson.bsky.social
A trio are able to make their shadows dance independent of their bodies -and they’re cooking up a plan to leave the mistreatment they’re facing. Bleak and great read

The Keeper of the Key by @nicolewillson.bsky.social is a great Bluebeardian YA gothic that made me wish stories like this had been around when I was younger.

72nd read of 25:
Hillheksene by Sara Vikse:
I saw witches in the title and bought it. It ended up being a nice buffer read (historical romance) after quite a few very bleak books.

Harvest Home by Thomas Tryon:
This came pretty close to being the perfect Halloween read for me. Weird villagers, town secrets, the oblivious newly arrived & very, very strange rites.

The Book of Koli by M.R. Carey:
Experiments have left nature a bit..off.. including trees that want to eat you. The tech seems to have exceeded common sense & outlasted the main bulk of the population in this brilliant story by Carey.

Skritt i mørke by Ebba Haslund was sold to me as a Norwegian horror story. It couldn’t be further from that; it’s an amusing comedic mystery about a grifter who gets what he deserves.

Å hate Gud (to hate God) by Jenny Hval reads like a fever dream/feminist/counter culture manifesto. Decidedly odd, it’s beautifully written but I tend to struggle with stream of consciousness beyond a few chapters and this is A LOT of it
