We sold out 2 tamale vendors, bought out 2 more vendors, and absolutely swarmed a family owned bakery. It was a good day with some the very best of #BikeChi 🥰 for the 4th installment of the Street Vendor Bike Tour. We persist. ✊🏽

Friends in my phone, CxS is adopting 9 members from ELLAS, a group of Latina breast cancer survivors to cover November grocery costs due to SNAP cuts. We’d like to raise $3,600. Donation info in the comments. Link to their website to learn more about them.

Tonight was the inaugural ride of our new home buyout program. We connect with vendors too scared to be out, and we purchase from them at home. Tonight we bought 250 tamales, divided into 3 teams to deliver all over the city to folks on the street, Love Fridges, and a youth shelter.

Fuuuuuuuuck ICE. We bought out 5 vendors this morning in Little Village and ICE is out there terrorizing the community. We also pass out whistles thanks to a supporter who 3D printed a ton for us. We keep us safe. ✊🏽
I just spent an hour chasing these ICE jagoffs through Bridgeport. They detained and questioned two old Chinese ladies (clearly dangerous criminals) then let them go. They are terrorizing the entire neighborhood. There have been people abducted this morning. I'm beyond enraged.

Sometimes I’m transporting 250 tamales on my cargo bike to feed a village. Sometimes it’s 3 tamales to feed myself. The most important thing is that your tamales make it home safe. 🫔😍 #BikeTamale

Last night we had 8 members attend Cycles of Support, our unemployment support group where we had a career coach present to us. One new member was a federal employee facing difficult times. Whether it’s vendors in the street or people in the job market, we provide support where it’s needed. ✊🏽

Saturday the team bought out 7 vendors, Sunday we bought out 9 on our tour. #BikeChi continues to show up!! Saturday we’re heading to Belmont Cragin x Hermosa for a cross community classic!

Cash from supporters ➡️ cash to vendors ➡️ safety of their home ➡️ food to the community. This is mutual aid. This is #BikeChi

Chat, turns out ppl like riding bikes, supporting their community, and don’t care much for ICE. This weekend we bought out 9 vendors, hosted a ride, and delivered over 250 burritos to hungry Chicagoans, coverage from Timeout, Block Club, Telemundo, and CNN. The message is clear #BikeChi shows up ✊🏽

What if instead of ICE terrorizing our communities, we had Mac and Cheese agents posted at corners for food emergencies?? Wife spotted these heroes at Madison/Halsted 👀 🫡 thank you for your service

“You’ve gained weight, but not like in a bad way” is what a “friend” said to me today. As a cis-male, the amount of times another cis-male has commented on my weight is astonishing. 🤦🏽‍♂️ can you not

As ICE continues to terrorize our communities, kidnapping our neighbors, 9 cyclists came together this morning at 6am to buyout 5 vendors and donate the food to a local shelter. They went home safe, hungry ppl were fed, this is #BikeChi ✊🏽

Do 100% of our funds go to support street vendors? Yes. Do I also purchase tamales and currently survive off of them? Also yes. Chat, everybody is winning in this initiative. 🫔 🫔 🫔

Happy Monday to my Costco bike friends and my Costco bike friends only. There was a STEADY stream of cyclists and scooters coming and going. This is where the revolution will begin.

3 of us braved the rain to buy out 2 vendors this morning. One vendor had their young child waiting in the car and started immediately packing up after we bought everything she had. I hope they enjoyed the rest of the day somewhere warm and comfy. Look at that tamale steam! 😍 🫔

One of our amazing organizers planted this seed and the #BikeChi community came together and started watering it and it’s been beautiful to see and help it blossom 🌸 🫶🏽
