Went out yesterday to get some "autumn vibes" pictures around town
Picture of the medieval York city wall, bending back on itself as it curves and turns a corner. Trees on either side are in various states of autumn - some fully yellow and losing leaves and others only starting to turn at the edges. There's vibrant green grass below the wall as people wander along the top. Picture of layers of York - the wall, the road into the city center, and York Minster, emerging from behind brick buildings. The Minster is a huge gothic cathedral made of tan stone, with three towers and sharp spires. It's shrouded in trees half its height, slowly shifting towards autumn colors. A group of red brick buildings, in turn, hide them from view.

The function of the waffles joke is an in-group signifier. Singal, Graber, and Oppiliappan are showing in-group solidarity; they're all in on a joke. The joke is they have institutional power, and you don't, and they feel contempt for you, that you still want to have opinions about how power's used.

pictures from a recent sunset - been trying for a little while now, but perfect conditions are rare. Got lucky a couple days ago :)

If you're part of the ~queer community~ or adjacent a better way to deal with your dumb feelings about how annoying everyone is, how stupid the kids are and how patronizing the olds, how much you can't stand your ex, how bad you got hurt etc, is to go down swinging for each other no matter what, imo

dragon lady next to me at the second life rave was too close and her wings kept clipping through my player model. I didn't mind but she apologied each and every time it happened. chat was filled with hundreds of variations of "oop sowwie >_<!! xoxo" and "uaah! not again! orz" by the end of the night

what this ultimately means is, there is no path to defeating fascism that does not explicitly depend on our willingness to defend people who are different from us, and to fight against forms of oppression we do not directly experience.

went to go see some birds
Tall rock cliffs with flat grass tops rising above the sea, hundreds of birds nestled into the cliffs and flying about. At first glance, only the bright white gannets stick out and the region around the cliff appears noisy, but zooming in shows that each spec is yet another bird. In the distance, the shorter cliffs of the Flamborough Head fade into the background with the horizon further behind. A gannet (a large bird) with its wings raised as it sits in its nest. Finally got a picture of this old telephone box I kept walking past

The telephone box has clearly been around a while; there's small pieces of moss growing on the glass outside and dirt encroaching on the backlit "telephone" label on top.
