BREAKING: Seattle Children's Hospital successfully fought this summer to get DOJ's invasive trans care subpoena quashed.

The Seattle court partially unsealed the case this week.

This was the fourth, previously sealed case mentioned in this recent Law Dork report: www.lawdork.com/p/judges-doj...

This probably isn’t good.
The CDC has turned off its vaccine search tool.

The vaccines.gov site now gives an error when you enter a valid zip code.

They also removed text saying “Vaccines can help you stay healthy” and added a banner saying the site is being updated.

That's a wrap on the Seattle Mayor's race: Katie Wilson wins it by 1,975 votes after the final remaining ballots were counted today.

That takes the race out of automatic recount territory as the gap is >0.5%

UPDATE: latest round of ballots counted shows that Katie Wilson now leads Bruce Harrell in the Seattle Mayor's race by 1,346 votes.

That's currently within the 2,000 vote margin to trigger an automatic machine recount. Though there are ~1,000 ballots with signature issues that could change that.

Seattle! If you haven't yet, TRACK YOUR BALLOT! If it hasn't been counted, find out what the issue is and get it solved. Volunteers are "curing" ballots. This mayoral race is so close!

Seattle's close mayoral race has switched leading candidates but the margins remain incredibly close.

It is possible we're headed to an automatic recount: WA state law requires a machine recount for any election within 0.5% & 2000 votes, and a hand recount for races within 0.25% & 150 votes.
Incredible. Progressive challenger Katie Wilson now has a 91-vote lead in Seattle’s race for mayor. She had been steadily gaining on incumbent Bruce Harrell.

There are about 8,000 ballots left to count.

I’m leaving this post up for transparency’s sake, but I just got some clarification on the federal RIF reinstatement/moratorium.

It only stops them from re-firing people until January of 2026 - I thought it was also a year.

So yeah, there’s not much of a win here. Apologies for the misread.
Honestly, this is likely as good of a deal as the Democrats are going to get.

Reinstates fired federal workers. Prevents admin from re-firing them. SNAP funding for a year, and an ACA vote in December.

Voters are already blaming the GOP for the ACA - make them vote against it.

Call your Dem senators.
Made my calls to Booker and Kim.

You can leave a message even when their offices are closed.

Flood the lines.

No cave on ACA subsidies. Fund them or keep the government shut.

This is the best explainer so far for why this was the best strategic move Justice Jackson could have made under these circumstances, "entirely understandable and defensible, even if I wish like hell it hadn’t come to this" as @stevevladeck.bsky.social puts it.

Just so everyone is clear, the main issue in the Supreme Court voting rights case tomorrow is whether it's racist against white people to enforce the Voting Rights Act.

I'm dead serious. We live in incredibly stupid times.

"I don't get to draw the line" — you are a wildly influential journalist with an audience of millions, you absolutely do get to draw the line!
IMO, the most revealing part is Klein wrestling with the question of where "the line" is (between acceptable and unacceptable politics). Realizing that what he considered past the line is now the GOP mainstream doesn't make him commit harder to fighting it. He wonders if he needs to move the line.
