I learned a lot about Nancy Pelosi this week — including her very early advocacy for AIDS patients. She visited them in SF General’s AIDS ward and convinced the Reagan administration to allow the AIDS Memorial Quilt to be displayed on the National Mall in 1987.

I haven’t been able to bring myself to read this yet, but I read every article vulture posts. It’s so little money at the end of the day and it’s such a great outlet
last thought on this for now: i know why people share unpaywalled versions of pieces like this, and i know it's important to have wide access to this reporting.

but this kind of writing takes a year of your life, and editing, and resources. i'm grateful to subscribers who support this work.
