The Brewers have signed Gerson Garabito, who pitched last year with the Rangers and in the KBO, to a minor league contract. He had a 2.64 ERA in 15 starts with the Samsung Lions after being released by Texas in June.

I think KC did really well, with the caveat that Milwaukee might be the no. 1 franchise that's gonna make you look like a moron for trading a RP with big stuff grades but middling results.
If you make your peace with the possibility that Zerpa turns into Josh Hader, you should be very happy.

This #Brewers trade of Collins/Mears for Zerpa looks just like Taylor/Hauser for Coleman Crow. Quality dudes, but basically spare parts at the time, swapped for upside. I trust the FO valuations.

The Brewers likely are not done, either, moving forward. Trevor Megill remains a recipient of significant interest. The decline in Mears' stuff had dropped him in the bullpen ranks for Milwaukee. Getting Zerpa is viewed as a potential late-inning arm; Mears was not viewed in that light.

The Brewers selected RHP Cole Phillips from the Mariners in the MiLB Rule 5 draft. Was the Braves second round pick in the 2022 draft. He has never pitched in a pro game because of injuries.
