"What can Democrats actually do?"

- Vote against funding for ICE and DHS

- State that any ICE officers who commit crimes under Trump will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law

- Encourage cities and states to refuse to cooperate with ICE

- Explain ICE is part of Trump's tyranny

"They say they're coming to save us from some evil? They're talking about our neighbors who take care of us ... Alex was murdered while he was helping. Mr Rogers said look for the helpers, & right now the helpers have a target on our forehead ... Mr Rogers would be here right now too, so I'm here."

Everyone is making Hitler and Nazi references. They do seem apt.

However, I wonder if we are really seeing a self created version of Germany post WWI. Which created the environment for Hitler's take over. That this is more long game to ensure the fascist takeover. Because the US economy is dying.

Reminder that we are a year into aggressive ICE raids and concentration camps, and there’s not a single example of local cops protecting people against this violence, kidnapping, or death.

Dear listeners,

When the days feel narrow and the noise gets loud, try a song.
Not as escape — as evidence.
Someone, somewhere, once felt this too and made something that still holds.

If hope is hiding, it often hums first.

Only a person easily bribed would think that everyone else is easily bribed. $1776 to the soldiers. $1500 to you, to cover a lifetime of medical expenses. $2000 tariff refund.
A man with billions of dollars thinks you can be bought for 2 grand.

If it is the stance of this administration that drugs are weapons in armed conflict … shouldn’t my right to bear those arms not be infringed?

Show respect to your elders who have earned it while they still walk this earth and can benefit from it.

Have your kids call them Aunt or Uncle or Grandma or Grandpa or whatever non gendered thing makes them happy.

Invite them to events.
Just sit and have tea/coffee and share.

It is open enrollment season here in the US. This is when we find out how bad our costs will be. My options are 330, 727, and 700. Twice a month. This is insurance, using it ALSO costs money. We have to end this.

Of all the terrible things Roberts has done, this was the most shocking stat: "the right-wing majority has used the shadow docket to uphold Trump’s actions roughly 90 percent of the time, repeatedly bailing him out of any obligation to follow the law"
There’s one person squarely to blame for Trump’s corruption, authoritarianism & assault on democracy: John Roberts. He’s enabled so much of Trump’s lawlessness while somehow escaping accountability for it

New cover story from @pemalevy.bsky.social & me

This is all John Roberts’ fault
Trump owes his corrupt and abusive reign to one man.

deep thoughts in physics

We are bathed in electro magnetic radiation. We can only see a small sliver of it. We call that "light". But all of that radiation energy is "light". Our concept of light and dark. Of color. Is just a sliver of reality. Yet it drives how we understand reality.

Not being even vaguely sarcastic:

At some point, a journalist needs to ask Johnson “you regularly claim you have no idea what your own government is doing. If we take you at your word, how are you so poorly informed, and do you this level of ignorance should disqualify you as speaker?”
Q: What's your message to the 170 US citizens who have been detained by ICE? About 20 of them are children

MIKE JOHNSON: I don't know what you're talking about with the children. I haven't seen that so I'm not going to comment on it.

As I read more about the AI coding future, something humourous arises. Today we often have poor or missing docs and tell people to read code. The AI future will be opaque code but plenty of docs describing how it was built.
