Love that we have somehow reclaimed cartoon frogs???????
I saw a tragically AI-generated version of this poster, so I have recreated a 100% human-made version for all your protest sign needs.

I've been struggling to process this news all day, honestly. One of the early conversations I remember having with Rob involved him telling me that if I thought "Arthurian Legend meets Big Stompy Mechs" sounds fun, I should check out Camelot Trigger.
Rob Wieland's first email to me was on Sat, Oct 21, 2006, asking to get the PDF of Spirit of the Century to go with his physical-copy purchase.

There since the beginning.

Wish he could've been there until the end.

This is my Senator. This isn't the most polished response, but I have been calling her repeatedly to urge her to make stronger condemnations of what Trump and Rs are doing. You can tell this isn't her comfort zone, but I appreciate this more than the "I'm committed to compromise" email I got.
Baldwin: Our farmers are facing incredible headwinds. A lot of the fertilizer inputs come from Canada. Those have shot up because of tariffs. About a quarter of all farmers use the ACA for their health care coverage. This president is just contributing to the headwinds that our farmers are facing.

I like that we're measuring crime in restaurant-based metrics now.
Trump: "The restaurants were all closing, now you can't get into a restaurant. They're opening up new restaurants. It took 12 days for us. We sent in not politically correct military. We sent them in based on merit."

Just going to assume my check for taking prescription medication will be in the mail.

My ADHD ass never wrote a paper until the night before. My pièce de résistance was writing an in-class essay pop quiz about Bartleby the Scrivener, which I did not have time to finish reading, and my teacher loved it so much she read it to all her classes. GenAI essayists would have died in 2006.
honestly the ballsiest thing I’ve ever done was to turn in a 25 page Milton paper I had started & finished the night before it was due, along with my 2 friends who had done the same, AND submitted our equal-length group chat of running Milton shitposting we’d been doing while writing. we all got As
I wrote a 15 page report on heraldic symbolism in medieval armor and weapon design for my art history class the night before it was due (8am class). Made up 90% of it (only found one book for reference) and got an A. GenAI could fucking never.

For millennia, Nimrod was the name of a mighty hunter, but 3 generations of people's exposure to cartoon animals using it ironically in *2* stories turns it into a word people use to mean "an unintelligent, easily fooled person."

But do tell us more about your "constitutional/biblical originalism."

It can be incredibly hard to see your progress when recovering from depression or burnout. The whole world keeps demanding certain benchmarks of you to the point that it’s easy to feel like a failure despite your hard work. Remember your progress is your own journey. Every win means something.

I have a full day today, but I woke up early to put this edition of my newsletter together because I need you all to have this rundown of what we've been up against this week in Chicago as the federal assault on our city continues. To ignore these developments would be a damning mistake for us all.

I’m horrified by Trump’s order to send 300 National Guard troops to Chicago. We’re only nine months into a four year term and already the president is trying to invade an American city. If you’re in the Guard, you can and should refuse these orders.

White supremacy is not a “legitimate view.”

Vilifying migrants is not “reasonable debate.”

Eugenics is not a “controversial belief.”

Genocide is not a “justified action.”

These are all examples of violent racism. We should recognise this basic fact and reject such politics unapologetically.

My partner was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in February 2022 at 37, a crazy young age for this cancer. He's doing fine now, in large part thanks to this drug. His insurance covers it. He has a good job. We're so profoundly lucky. But DAMN does this hit close to home.

Brilliant piece.
Revlimid has its origin in a pill that cost patients $7.50 each.

Decades later, the cancer drug costs more than $18,000 for a month’s supply — even though it still only costs about 25 cents to manufacture.

Read @davidarmstrongx.bsky.social's award-winning investigation:
The Price of Remission: This Cancer Drug Saves Lives — but Costs a Fortune. I Wanted to Know Why.
When I was diagnosed with cancer, I set out to understand why a single pill of Revlimid cost the same as a new iPhone. I’ve covered high drug prices as a reporter for years. What I discovered shocked ...
