I know this is uncomfortable to admit, but there is a small area in England's second city where people are just not integrated with the rest of society. Many of them hold views that arguably go against British values.

Yes, we need to talk about the Tory conference in Manchester.

“Accidentally.” More like gross incompetence and mismanagement. Opposite of efficient.

I think we've reached the point where it's reasonable to call anyone supporting the Trump administration a quisling and an appeaser and we should reserve nothing but contempt and disdain for them.

Brexit was pushed through by lies. The Sun lied about benefits tourism. Later, it printed this pathetically small apology.

The government should force all news media to print apologies for falsehoods in a form that makes them as visible to the public as the original lie.

Noticed a£14 off voucher on Amazon for a GMKtec G5 Nucbox Pc (already reduced substantially). This “pc” runs windows 11 pro, but is 7x7x5cm in size and can be powered by a usb-c PD charger. I’ve now set it up headless with a upnp server (Asset) and lots of 24 bit flacs for travel.

Was just disinvited by @bbc5live.bsky.social to a discussion of Brexit 5 years on- on the entirely reasonable/correct grounds that I know what I am talking about and would give an expert, objective view.

What they actually wanted was a "hard Remainer" (to balance a know-nothing Brexiteer).

Such an annoying critique of big infrastructure plans - 'but it'll take years for it to be built/make a difference'. Yes! That's why stuff needs to get started & why governments need to look beyond one political cycle. Otherwise we just end up 20 years later in the same position.

A genuinely useful application of AI would be a browser plugin or social media add-on that automatically hides any story that's about Trump saying or threatening to do something - unless the article/post includes evidence he or his administration have taken a single concrete step toward doing it.

Fact-checking wasn’t “biased” against conservatives. Conservatives just shared more false content. If there’s a sportsball game and one team fouls four times as much, it’s not “biased” for the ref to call four times as many fouls against that team.

Meta is dropping fact-checking to avoid anti-conservative bias- but is there actually evidence of bias?
We this test empirically & find that conservatives

The BBC needs to have a debate about whether Musk's outbursts should keep leading the news.

This isn't about censoring or suppressing his views; it's about whether to amplify them.

Most Brits aren't on X, they don't follow Musk & not every raving from a foreign plutocrat should set the news agenda
