It doesn't look as if the @firefox.com betrayal of core values is as bad as we feared. But I wonder if Mozilla did ANY user research before making this decision on vibes. I realize Mozilla have to fund development, but I can't imagine that Firefox users would trade privacy for AI. It's not Chrome!
Exactly. We know not everyone wants AI, which is why our approach is different. Firefox is not becoming an AI browser. Features are optional, clearly labeled, and fully under your control with a total opt-out coming early next year. It won't please everyone but we believe you deserve choice.
Look, I get that it's frustrating to see @firefox.com make an announcement this tone-deaf, but let's be clear: the same announcement makes it clear that their AI features will be clearly-labelled and can be turned off, which is more than we'll get from Chrome or any of its offspring (Brave, et. al.)

With a week to go until Christmas, here is the BEST recipe for homemade rum truffles, from the 1970s. As these are unsweetened, you need to start with a high-cocoa content (70%+) chocolate you *like the taste of*.
These are easy to make, and a tasty, grown-up treat! 😘

The #BBC should copy the Pulitzer Committee, demanding Trump records in discovery:
- psychological records (is he capable of judging his own behavior?)
- prescription medication records (evidence of dementia)
- tax returns (did he suffer financial harm?)
Release of these will also embarrass Trump 😘

*Such* a shame about Crucial. They were the one firm you could rely on, for reasonably-priced RAM and SSDs. AI has *so* much to answer for - especially when only those with huge $$$ investments in AI actually want it.

Crucial is shutting down — because Micron wants to sell its RAM and SSDs to AI companies instead
Another blow to PC gaming.

You know that single friend who’s a total catch but keeps striking out?

That’s our buddy Dasher!

Every time we share him, we think, “This has to be the post that finally gets him adopted.”

And yet… here we are again, still talking about how wonderful he is 🧵

If you live in PA and don't vote tomorrow to retain sitting state supreme court justices Christine Donohue, Kevin Dougherty and David Wecht, the loss of civil rights and women's rights will be on you.
GOYA and vote!

The NYT being hypocritical about Mandani again.
It's noticeable that Trump's "thin resume" the first time - or his atrocious record of decisions the second time - was no impediment to his candidacy ... (firewalled link)

Trump #Project2025 #necropolitics:
*waging covert war on Venezuela
* acting like a buffoon in Asia
* locking subsidies to make ACA health plans unaffordable
* starving seniors/children by refusing to disburse SNAP payments

But his major concern just now is his bathroom remodel

Mike Johnson really is the see-no-evil monkey, isn’t he?
Q: Just last week a minister was shot directly in the face with a pepper round by a DHS agent that left his face bloodied. Are you concerned that this is a religious freedom issue?

MIKE JOHNSON: I can't comment on any of those instances. I haven't seen or heard any of those videos

I was raised to believe that supporting welfare is the right - and Christian - thing to do
Cost to fund SNAP and keep 42 million people from starving:

$100 billion

Cost of lost revenue due to tax cuts for the richest Americans in the top 1%:

$100 billion

One is decried as "welfare." One is not.

Why?

From PA Dept of Human Services:
SNAP clients are receiving calls saying that their benefits are on hold until they verify their eligibility and asking that they call and provide their PIN. This is a SCAM.
DHS will not ask for personal information in an unsolicited text message, email, or phone call.

Just shows their ignorance if they never heard of the "Indian Auntie" convention. As a Ugandan of Indian descent, Zohani refers to any female family connection as his Aunt.
Americans, with their extended families, are familiar with this way of thinking. Anyone who claims otherwise is spouting BS
In a bit of a tense moment, one of the La Mega co-hosts presses Mamdani on why he "lied" about his "aunt" having been scared to ride the subway after 9/11 while wearing a hijab.

Mamdani says it was "not a lie" because he refers to his father's cousin as his "aunt."

If you're dealing with food insecurity with food stamps being cut off in November, you can find local food pantries at foodfinder.us
FindHelp also has food bank and pantry listings, as well as other mutual aid orgs and resources

Rough math: 12.3% of Americans (41.7 mil) are about to lose SNAP. Many food banks produce 3 meals per $1, so a November worth of meals for one costs $30. Round it up to $35 for asst. costs & hygiene products. If 13% of us donate $35 each to food banks, we can get everyone through Nov! #EndHunger 🥙💪

ChatGPT’s new Atlas browser doesn’t just see what you read — it remembers it.

@eff.org’s Lena Cohen showed me it even logged “memories” of her looking for *abortion care* and her doctor’s name. Out-surveils even Chrome.

Column | ChatGPT just came out with its own web browser. Use it with caution.
OpenAI’s Atlas promises AI-powered convenience. The price? Letting ChatGPT track and store “memories” of what you do online.

– Have you seen this ball?
– Would you like to throw this ball?
– Most importantly, do you want to be BFFs?

She's very eager to find a foster home & will soon be ready for adoption, too! 🧵
