But I thought we were going to talk about health care when the government opened back up
UPDATE: The Senate votes 53-47 to shoot down the Baldwin amendment to extend ACA funds for 1 year. A party-line vote with every Republican rejecting it.
An important vote in this series: Tammy Baldwin’s proposal to extend ACA expiring funds for 1 year. It’s structured as a motion to table (i.e. scrap it from the amendment tree). But it’ll show the appetite (or lack thereof) in the Senate to address this issue.

Even if you have AMAZING employer insurance and will never leave your job and they keep costs down or fully fund it...no employer health insurance can save you from hospital/clinic/supplier/etc closures caused by falling off a cliff on Medicaid, Medicaid, and private insurance reimbursement.
Also if you get insurance through your employer and are sighing a deep breath of relief (while obviously still giving a shit about this issue)
understand your insurance through your employer can go up as well, and coverage offered lessened.
And if you lose your job and can't quickly find another

I do NOT enjoy being touched by strangers but I'm extremely intrigued by these live ASMR events for obvious reasons. (Pre-pandemic I tried to convince an editor to pay for me to go to one lol.)

One result of AI ruining everything is a knee-jerk 'get computers out of classrooms' which really sucks for some disabled kids who have really benefited from access to tech. This is a really frustrating game of whack-a-mole.

An anonymous donor just offered to match up to $1,000 to my fundraiser in support of health benefits for @scarleteen.com's staff and an as-needed health fund for volunteers, which means your $1 is worth $2! Anyone want to join in with ANOTHER match to turn that into $3?

Saw a sign about Flock cameras in my podunk home town the other day and it gives me so much heart to see how pissed off people are about this.

Resources like Scarleteen are under attack right now thanks to a hostile, censorious, puritan government. And, as illustrated last night, health care precarity in the US is a really big problem. Health educators deserve health care!
It's that time of year again: @scarleteen.com is holding their annual fundraiser to support inclusive, comprehensive, loving sex ed, and this year, they're raising money for health benefits for paid staff. I set a goal of $500 for my personal fundraiser, but please help me get way over the top!

I think all Democratic eight senators who caved to the GOP should have to read this to truly understand who they've hurt.

What Was the Point of the Shutdown?
Democrats asked voters to weather short term pain from the shutdown to get long term gains in extending the ACA health insurance subsidies. Then they threw it all away.
So, what was the point of all ...

Good news for these senators is they won’t need to fly to Washington anymore once their terms are up
Anyway a great way to radicalize people is for them to realize that you just abandoned their chance at being able to access and afford health care because you didn’t like waiting in line at the airport.
