Was working on this list over the summer and it felt apt to publish it last week for various reasons but then I forgot to share it elsewhere.

So, here it is.

With his new movie upon us, it's a great time to remind you that Paul Thomas Anderson's production company is named for Ghoulardi, a horror host portrayed by PTA's own father, Ernie Anderson. Ghoulardi's Shock Theater was a staple of Cleveland television and a foundational creature feature program.

the person who decided to use this in the 28 Years Later trailer -- Megan Barbour, the director of music at Buddha Jones agency at the time -- deserves several awards and a million dollars. Boyle liked it so much he decided to put it in the movie.
Boots by Rudyard Kipling, read by American actor Taylor Holmes, and used to hypnotic effect in Danny Boyle’s 28 Years Later.

YouTube videos are being shared widely, I kind of like the “not-cleaned-up” recording.

Every once in a while I check in on NextDoor to see what’s up. Every time it feels like I stumbled into a racist retirement home where no one knows how to Google for the most basic things.

Watched FLOW today. Beautiful film. Life-affirming and heartbreaking. I’m not sure anyone in the theater had dry eyes at the end.

If you’re asking yourself “who the hell is this movie even for” about KRAVEN… me, it’s for me. I enjoyed the hell out of it! Great to see Christopher Abbott show up too.

CONCLAVE is a first rate political thriller and an adult movie for adults, the likes of which we don’t see as often anymore. Fiennes, Tucci, Lithgow and Rossellini all turn in fine performances. Rossellini has a hard stare that will break a man!

Saw Ridley Scott’s GLADIATOR II in IMAX tonight. That’s a lot of money, time and effort spent on something that, at best, is a whisper of the first. Mainly it lacks tension and the outcome never felt in doubt. The craftsmanship is outstanding though. Great set/costume design!
