We're in the final hours of 2024, so I guess I'll share some games I'm excited for in 2025, starting with one out in ~48 hours

Beyond Citadel is a freak pick. Low-fi indie FPS with realistic gun handling and ero-guro (don't look it up if you don't know) adjacent aesthetics. It is horny for violence
Beyond Citadel on Steam
Beyond Citadel is an anime style retro throwback shooter inspired by the classics of the 90's, with realistic gunplay mechanics, anime violence and fast paced combat. Fight your way through the heavil...

Started reading Dragon Head by Mochizuki Minetaro, about a class trapped in a tunnel after a earthquake. I think things are going to get very weird

Really love how ghosts are depicted in Yuuan no Kanata (Kanata of the Darkness) by Koike Nokuto. I've only read a little so far but it seems to be bringing together an interesting cast. The imagery is horrific and surreal.

Started reading Tonari no Jii-san (My Old Man Neighbor) by Koike Nokuto. Super creepy evocative art, and a story that has a great central mystery so far. Highly recommend if you love grotesque horror manga

I swear the human brain was NOT built to be aware of the ongoing events of the whole planet. We gotta be optimized for village living right?

The actual "absolutely terrifying" thing is how many creeps like Riley have made their hobby being part of the surveillance state apparatus, and will thoughtlessly ruin any number of lives just so they can be the Police State's Special Boy.
Riley Walz (@riley.bsky.social), engineer who tweeted public Citi Bike data he thought could help catch the UHC CEO's killer, told me he's received hundreds of threats and that his home address has been widely posted. One tweet with a photo of his house got 5,000 likes. "It's absolutely terrifying"
Online sleuths are racing to catch the UnitedHealthcare CEO’s killer
The shooting of the UnitedHealthcare CEO in New York City, home to a vast network of surveillance cameras, has fueled a crowdsourced manhunt — even as some seek to lionize the killer.

The tireless anarchist organizer Errico Malatesta was born on this day in 1853. 🏴

In 1884, he and other anarchists defied the state to treat a cholera outbreak in Naples—demonstrating a model for grassroots healthcare and mutual aid that remains relevant in the #COVID19 era:
