Homie was kidnapped by ICE yesterday on his WORK break from Wood Ranch in Thousand Oaks. ICE came back today to stalk more restaurant workers. Lazy Dog restaurant allowed/welcomed them inside. Ventura County Sheriff circled these areas all day. Unsure if Sheriffs are around to stop intervention

Some 600 immigrant kids were sent to federal custody by ICE in 2025.

A 17-year-old was detained at a traffic stop because officers couldn’t make contact with his dad, who is deaf.

Another kid ended up in a shelter after making a wrong turn.

Under a zero tolerance policy, the first Trump administration separated immigrant children from their families at the U.S.-Mexico border. New data suggests separations are happening all over the count...

A lot of us have survived the US genocidal project for generations so, yeah, there is hope. This isn’t brand new.
Week 1. We invaded Venezuela. We killed the ACA subsidies. We destroyed the Kennedy Center. We murdered a woman in cold blood over deportations. We threatened Greenland, now we are offering them $100,000 per person to allow us to take over their country.
First 7 days. Can we survive a year of this?

It’s sublime counter programming.

A major use-case for AI is reality destabilization.
This video, viewed millions of times on TikTok, Facebook and X, claims to show Venezuelans taking to the street to thank the US for detaining Maduro.

But the video is a combination of four AI-generated clips and was first posted on TikTok by a user who frequently shares AI videos. It's not real.

A reminder that the US killed 80 people in Venezuela, and it would be nice if the US media cared enough to think that the life of a grandmother in Caracas whose building is destroyed by a US bomb matters as much as the life of a person in the US.

If you want to actually improve archival access, you do that by spending money providing liveable wages and more resources to existing archives and professionalizing the thousands of volunteer-run local repositories. Spending money on AI/genAI isn't helping either.

ProPublica identified 17 people who each shielded at least $1 billion in capital gains from the so-called Net Investment Income Tax.

Together, this small group, by collectively exempting more than $35 billion, saved about $1.3 billion in taxes.

How Billionaires Sidestepped a Tax Aimed at the Rich
Wall Street financiers were a clear target of the tax, but some, on questionable legal grounds, have claimed their outsized profits were exempt, sometimes avoiding hundreds of millions in taxes.

1. Constructive peer review
2. Adversarial peer review

I'm looking at this mostly from a psychology/methodology perspective (but wonder what other fields experience)
