Possibly shouting into the void. I’m hardly ever on here. Nonetheless:

Any writer/publishing connections up for chatting re supporting Palestinian poets? Any initiatives out there? I’ve been in contact with a poet for a while who is working on a collection & it’s time to explore options for them.

It isn’t unusual for me to re-watch certain tv shows, but Letterkenny just hits different. Jared Keeso is a genius. Exceptional writing, exceptional characters, the works, and pretty soon I’m going to start again for the millionth time because we just finished Shoresy, so natural progression.

This would change a life. It could change the life of a family. If you doubt that it could happen, look at me. I just did a PhD by Published Works because access and understanding were put in place, but ALSO because a small group of people suggested it for me in the first place & had that faith

This is Erika. I was changing the bed & she decided to sit like this, refusing to move, just staring at me.

I drove to the back arse of nowhere in Donegal to rescue her when she was tiny. Now she is a TANK and all I get is this derision because I’m not my husband.

We’re still going back and forth - shortlist on the 1st - but wonderful discussion on the poetry list with @seaninhughes.bsky.social and her words have made me think so much more about writing. Craft, our development, how and why we learn. Lovely stuff 💙📚

Kind of feel like the switch to referring to art as "content" is contributing in ways to how disposable and interchangeable books and writers are treated. I know it's not the reason WHY, because it's long been that way, but it just feels like it's a way to make everything happening more permissible.

A little part of me still reels from this every day.
i think if you told me as a teen in the mid 2000's that Limp Bizkit and ICP would broadly be considered "music of the people" in the future whereas Neutral Milk Hotel and Radiohead would broadly be considered toxic 4chan incel music i would *REDACTED*

If we can get this to 2k by the time the 2025 #Curae prize shortlist is announced on 1st May, that would be THE BEST. Thank you so much to everyone who has contributed. Please share and repost.
Thank you 💙📚

Wrote a weird slug story last week. Insomnia meant I was in the kitchen at 4am and found one. At first I thought it was a massive cat shit, then it moved and I panicked (bc JFC, sentient shit), then I copped myself on. Got ~2k by 7am. Discovered the dog had eaten it, which was scary, but she’s ok.

Today, I sent my selections for the poetry section of the Curae Prize. The calibre was phenomenal - seriously👌. Thank you so much to every single entrant for giving me the opportunity to read your work. Please, please never stop writing. And I hope we get to do this again and again, year on year.
This is for you #curae entrants
I’ve got my lists back from @michaellangan.bsky.social @seaninhughes.bsky.social @tenpennydreams.bsky.social & Elissa Soave. I’ve read all the hundreds of entries and next week the shortlist will be drafted - announced 1st May. I am so proud of you all ❤️

Could my fellow poets who write/speak as Gaeilge make themselves known, please? Friend helping to organise an arts festival and they need one. Thanks!

This is so refreshing to see. I’m geographically limited, but maybe this will reach some folks who could go along and support?
Please come if you can and help make this festival a success.

Now we get to read the entries. As a carer myself, this is a real privilege and I will give each and every one the time and attention it deserves. Big luck to all of those who entered 🌻
Update. ALL the entries have now gone off to the judges. I just finished sorting and sending. I've read everything and I have my own shortlist to take to my colleagues in mid April. There is some astounding work here, in my view. I am so proud of you all and hope you enjoyed entering the 2025 #Curae
#Curae news. I’ve now read ALL the entries: across poetry, nonfiction and fiction, I have my own shortlist of 15 texts. Today everything goes in batches to our panel of 6 judges & we meet in April, when I’ll see their choices & discussions start! Will they agree with me? Shortlist announced 1st May

41 trips around the sun for me somewhere vaguely between today and tomorrow. Blithely coddiwompling into my ‘fuck fear’ era in which I get my MA and become an unorthodox autistic therapist who makes everyone write a book.
