Not good. The smugglers are not stupid enough to put themselves on the boats, they rely on coercing asylum seekrs. So all this will do is lock up more of the vulnerable, when are jails are groaning to capacity already. www.theguardian.com/politics/liv...

It might be petty, but all this talk about Greenland, just makes me even more angry about the result of me answering the following quiz question:
Q. Which is the largest country wholly within Europe?
A. Denmark.
[Apparently it was France]

Will be interesting to see if these robodogs can locate and plug themselves into a charging point, and avoid mountain range anxiety.

I made a late-night joke about lawn mowers, pointing out that they were not invented until quite late in human history, despite wheels and blades having been around since prehistoric times.

I now know more than almost any human being about scything.

And there is quite a lot to know, it would seem.

Apparently according to RAIL magazine issue 1025 each extra mph of speed for #HS2 costs an extra £1bn. That would mean the cost increase of going from a conventional 125 mph to 225 mph would be £100bn extra. Someone's maths seems suspect?

Just finished reading @iandunt.bsky.social 's excellent book "How Westminster Works...and Why It Doesn't". A 'critique' is not a strong enough word for the dysfunctional organisations described. I wonder though if the last chapter of references is available online, as it does include some long URLs?

One could almost feel sorry for Vennells' lawyer (yes subs there's an apostrophe) , scraping around for excuses for the ex-CEO. You know the chief executive officer in charge of the Post Office, but then like all PO lawyers and unlike sub-postmasters I am sure he will be handsomely rewarded.

People often say, Oh, I've got one of your cartoon prints on my wall! I feel I should point out that they are not prints. I draw each one individually. I'm not sure if this is because people are using the word 'print' interchangeably with 'piece of work' now. Anyway, I draw each one.
