This a big deal: "China’s carbon dioxide emissions have been flat or falling for 18 months"

China's economy has grown by ~5% in the last year, so this comprehensively debunks the idea (again) that emissions are tied to growth. So yes, faster progress needed, but this is how you turn the corner.

Before ACA, many Americans couldn’t afford insurance

Alex Smith was a diabetic who got kicked off his Mom’s insurance at 26

He made 35k a year which was “too much” for Medicaid, but not nearly enough to cover insurance premiums

He had to ration his insulin & died a month after losing insurance
Insulin's High Cost Leads To Lethal Rationing
Alec Raeshawn Smith was 23 when diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes and 26 when he died. He couldn't afford $1,300 per month for his insulin and other diabetes supplies, so he tried to stretch the doses.

US index of consumer sentiment about current conditions just dropped to 52.3%, down nearly 11% from last month LOWEST IN ITS HISTORY. And the measure of future expectations fell to 49.0, down 2.6% in one month. Basically, under Trump, US consumers are now 36% less hopeful than under Biden.
Consumer sentiment nears lowest level ever as worries build over shutdown
A University of Michigan sentiment survey showed a decline of 6.2% on the month and about 30% from a year ago.

So your system has only destroyed value, but it did manage to skim off enough to make rich people even richer while poor people can't afford to eat. Capitalism isn't really a system to create value, it's a system to transfer value from the poor to the rich. And that's your BEST example.

Great read!

'ANTIFA'-affiliated means nothing legally.

This is related to July shooting at a Detention Center in TX.

Of 14 charged, 12 were for ancillary activity.

Hyped up dog and pony show. Of course we can expect Trash Patel to make a mountain out of a mole hill.
FBI Director Kash Patel announced that for the first time ever, the Bureau had indicted 'Antifa-aligned' individuals.

@ericcolumbus.bsky.social digs into the charges to understand the administration's efforts to target its ideological adversaries.

The Justice Department’s tacked-on charges are just for show. The larger plan is not.

Look out at the horizon and let the wind open your heart.

look I know being an engaged citizen IS the work of democracy but it is also the work of elected officials not to create situations where everyone has to be mobilized all the time to prevent them from allowing some kind of Dickensian horror on a Sunday night while you're in between loads of laundry

My current healthcare premium with ACA Marketplace Insurance is $358 per month.

In 2026, without the healthcare subsidy it will be $1271.84 per month.

As I write this I am literally crying because I don’t know what I am going to do.

The stress of it is really starting to affect me.

This short documentary is absolutely gut-wrenching to watch. Children are starving to death due to USAID cuts that were made in our name. I can’t imagine any of my fellow Americans supporting this devastation. Meanwhile, Elon Musk gets a $1 trillion pay package approved by Tesla.
No other agency of the U.S. government has saved more lives per dollar than U.S.A.I.D.—it supplied medicine, food, and staffing for some of the most desperate and vulnerable. A new short documentary shows the impact of its dismantling. https://newyorkermag.visitlink.me/2a5Jm5
