I wish that people who identify poverty and trauma as key underpinnings of high-risk substance use could learn to advocate for poverty and trauma-alleviating solutions instead of jumping to medical incarceration as a frontline intervention.

Forced abstinence IS trauma––ask Alberta PChAD survivors.
