If the United States does this, then the taboo against violent territorial expansion that we have made the cornerstone* of the global system will vanish. This would influence how all other international disputes were resolved, and make great system war more of a when than an if.

The policies it would usher in would make what we've seen the first 11 months feel like a cakewalk.

If they eliminate the filibuster, it means national bans on gender affirming care, bathroom bans, a sports ban, gender marker bans, elimination of legal recognition etc. It will make life unlivable for trans people in the US, even in blue states. It's a worst case scenario.
