Hot take I guess, but people shouldn’t fear losing their jobs for bringing attention to a misalignment in values between staff and leadership in a field that is supposed to be centered around justice.

In repro, we see a lot of abuse and toxicity, and there's a pressure to "keep quiet" so that we don't hurt the work. But the work isn't hurt by demanding that our leaders abide by the values we espouse. It's hurt by Boards like Apiary's refusing to reflect and treat employees with basic respect.

The Board of @apiaryps.bsky.social just surprise-fired their entire staff (amazing, dedicated folks) and put the organization on "pause" because the Board hated that the staff demanded they live up to actual RJ values. I saw this firsthand working with Apiary. I'm disgusted but not surprised.

repro leadership will treat their workers and volunteers like garbage because they know there’s always younger, bright-eyed people in the wings willing to tolerate abuse and low (or no) wages for a chance until they get sick of it and then the cycle repeats

Adriana Smith, alongside her loved ones, deserves more than to be used for just another talking point, engagement post, or fundraising email for liberal organizations. It’s so disrespectful to use their trauma and pain for a few days of a news cycle.

People don’t like it when I call out how the decisions of hospital admin are also to blame for this kind of cruelty, but: the hospital should allow the family to remove life support. If the state of Georgia wants to go after the hospital for it, let them. They have the legal resources to fight it.

I got laid off today. My employer Just the Pill laid off the entire non-mgmt staff and said we could re-apply in the future. Which is hilarious considering no management knows how abortion clinics operate and failed to even set up revenue recognition.

Anyway, I’m unemployed and looking for work.
