I never thought we'd get our own little version of Amsterdam's famous Rijksmuseum tunnel! I had to see it to believe it.

I’ve always been aware of how problematic car-centric culture and infrastructure are. But I never thought I would have to sacrifice my child to it.

I’m disappointed that we didn’t pass our amendment to redirect money from sweeps to upstream solutions like rental assistance, food assistance and immigrant and refugee support. But, I’m proud of the work that went into it and the absolute resolve in my colleague @councilormorillo.bsky.social

I agree with Jonathan Maus
Sure is interesting to me how Portland Police issue a careless driving citation at the scene of a crash when it involves one of their own. I'm always told they can't do this until investigation closes, and in many cases (involving bike riders), police just leave it to insurance to figure out.

Working as a game designer, one of the first and most important lessons you learn is that you cannot shame players into playing the game the way you want.

You must make the thing you want players to do the most practical and intuitive option. You get the behavior you design for.

Jonathan is a friend, we respectfully disagree. To praise an elected leader for shaming drivers enables (and condones) that elected to not do the hard work of leading & insisting on politically difficult choices to address the systemic transportation problems: Not my problem - that’s on the driver
this is probably the strongest statement i've seen from a city council person in the last 20 years.

And note that he's doing the type of direct blame/shame of drivers I've been hoping/calling for. I think it's effective and much needed.
Three of my neighbors in district 1 were killed in three separate car collisions last night. We need action now to reduce pedestrian and cyclist deaths.

YOU need to do more to improve your own driving. Do better. Keep your neighbors alive.

Zohran Mamdani caught lying that he understood Plato’s allegory of the cave, yet when asked to explain it, he seemed to instead explain Baudrillard’s theory of Simulacra and Simulation where reality has been replaced by symbols and signs, which seems similar to Plato’s theory but is not the same

When assessing road safety, we rely exclusively on fatalities as the sole metric. To better understand road violence we need to start tracking and reporting on serious injury crashes with as much rigor.
