Whenever people complain about the number of folks relying on food stamps, it is worth reminding them that SNAP is, by too large of a degree, a subsidy for corporations that refuse to pay a living wage and their political allies who reject public policy prescriptions to reduce income inequality.

at no point did we defund the police. it's important when we talk about defunding the police to note it never actually happened. would it work? we don't know! but merely phrasing the idea succinctly incited a reactionary backlash that put fascists in charge of all 3 branches of government. curious!
While I think in many ways Nate Silver is an idiot, there is a lot about far left progressivism that is a complete turn off to many centric Democrats and left leaning Republicans. It makes it more difficult for us to win elections.

We can begin with “defund the police.“
