Two of the most significant politics editors in Teen Vogue’s history were working class trans people from Ohio and Philly, and their tireless, fearless work is a huge part of why so many people are mourning its demise now. @satansjacuzzi.bsky.social and @leximcmenamin.com you will always be famous

Someone give Lex $2 million so they can launch a politics version of Teen Vogue. Do it now. No strings attached.

It's almost as if letting the ultra-rich own the entire mainstream press and also all the big social platforms had a downside.

We strongly condemn @CondéNast’s consolidation plans for Teen Vogue, a move that is clearly designed to blunt the award-winning magazine’s insightful journalism at a time when it is needed the most. More from our statement:

Olympic-level shooting yourself in the fucking foot to destroy the parts of your magazine that garnered awards and huge traffic/circulation increases just so you can fire all your employees of color which I’m forced to conclude was the goal

thank you for all the support; the statement from our union is now live here with some more reporting.

now that this is public I can confirm that the majority of today’s layoffs were women of color. there are no longer any Black women working at Teen Vogue.

such a fucking blow. @leximcmenamin.com has been doing incredible work and the entire politics arm of teen vogue has stood out for its clarity in a mess of bullshit coverage of movements. unbelievable.
I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

We wanted to understand what a Zohran Mamdani administration would mean for New York. So we talked to a Kentucky woman who once tied for 5th place in a swim race with a transgender woman and got really mad that she didn't get to hold the trophy.

not to wade into the discourse but [proceeds to wade into discourse] I don't think that a broad definition of trans people is why we lost Skrmetti, I think we lost because we live in a state whose main lawmaking body is a reactionary unelected council of nine people who decided that fascism is good

we talk about men doing shrooms and having revelations we had at 12 on tumblr.com. next we have lifelong blue check liberals who are "experts" in policy figuring out conservatives want us all dead actually literally in 2025. also found that out at 12 on tumblr.com.
