It’s supposed to rain in LA over the next few days (and also next week). Take care to minimize mudslides and flooding. Especially in fire affected areas.

Suggestion to Americans: If you used a current bank account with funds on a recent tax return, it may be wise to contact your bank and request a change. Account and routing numbers are accessible, and Elon Musk’s staff have access to this information. Stay safe and protect your assets.

How many presents is the right amount for your most loved one?

We’re a little lean this Christmas but I’m thinking at least 3, including one treat.

I’d rather open several little presents than one big one.

I encourage folks who have some level of privilege—like my fellow straight white guys— to act when you see an opportunity to stand up to jerks who are being anti-trans, racist, anti-semitic, or homophobic.

Sometimes it’s as simple as saying:
“Stop that. You’re being a jerk.”

Points out that homelessness CAN be eradicated but *they* don’t WANT to.

But we all knew this.
Denver gave people experiencing homelessness $1k/month. A year later, nearly half had housing.

They also had fewer ER visits, nights spent in a hospital, and jail stays.

The report estimates that this reduction in public service use SAVED the city $589k.

Participants in Denver's basic-income program reported having more-secure housing, though results were similar in the trial and control groups.
