KEEPER is not the best of Osgood Perkins but it’s an unsettling fairytale tucked inside a rustic cabin where romance curdles. Maslany gives a great performance as she questions everything around her. The creature designs are inspired nightmare-fuel. It feels like a dark lullaby. #FilmSky

Capturing the beauty of TRAIN DREAMS in words was a challenge that took a few days to even draft out. There are films that surround you, breathe, whisper, & carry you someplace both familiar & lost. TRAIN DREAMS is one of those films. It’s breathtaking. #FilmSky www.peliplat.com/en/article/1...

When I started writing 8 years ago, I would have killed for any kind of exposure. I wrote for small publications & built up my work & opportunities slowly. Seeing young critics get more exposure now & get hated on for it is so upsetting considering we need more writing & voices now than ever

Meanwhile, on twitter, did you know that Mary Shelley never could have written Frankenstein (which is about magnets as you know) because her boyfriend was really into magnets?

In fact, when you think about it, that's why women in general don't write great literature (chicks aren't into magnets).

Currently addicted to TALES OF THE SHIRE. I know it got shit reviews but I’m really enjoying wandering around the village, doing missions and other activities like fishing and cooking. Also decorating my hobbit house! It can be repetitive but it’s giving me what I want from a cozy game

I’m enjoying DOWN CEMETERY ROAD with Ruth Wilson whose character gets caught up in a government conspiracy & drags Emma Thompson’s punk private detective down with her. Both are great but I love Thompson’s tough as nails character who slowly begins to show cracks of vulnerability.

I’m just saying, I directed a movie for basically no money that debuted in the 90s on rotten tomatoes and got distribution with no stars attached, I did not get a single call and couldn’t even find a rep as a director. This was not the case for any of the male directors I went to AFI with.
She's absolutely right. As a producer with several films in development with female directors, I can say it is an absolute uphill battle to get execs to fund their projects. Great scripts are sitting on shelves while a generation of our most talented women sit idle.
