My lab's been attacked by an anti-wind group and their lawyers. They threatened the science funding of my whole university, to shut me and my undergraduate research assistants up.

NYT just covered it. 1/n

Actually we have a tool for that already! It's called thinking. We use our brain. It's called brainstorming! Clue is in the name.

The NYT's anti-trans fear mongering was cited in a Supreme Court briefing that stripped away the rights of trans kids. They need to be fully blacklisted by queer people and their allies. Don't work for them. Don't use them for book press. Don't speak with them for stories. They made their bed.

A great 30-minute read on the importance of resisting narratives about AI’s “inevitability” and “falling behind” if you refuse to adopt them in your work.

AI is only inevitable if you allow it to be. Ask more questions. Demand more answers. Don’t take magical LLM job replacement stats for granted.
Newsletter: There is nothing inevitable about artificial intelligence, outside of the media's continued deference to the power. For a better tech industry - and a better world - the media must become more accountable, more sincere, and fight for the truth for the public.

Just putting this out there for all the people who think we're going too fast on decarbonisation
Earth will warm 1.5 degrees Celsius above preindustrial levels in just two years, new data shows. Irreversible tipping points — like the melting of Arctic ice sheets or the collapse of coral reefs — are closer at hand than previously believed.

Gen AI is actively causing the dismantling of important patterns and behaviors of collaborative and community learning in colleges because it’s easier to ask a chatbot than a classmate for help. Meanwhile, the developers of this technology: “It’s going to start the space age actually.”

1. Totally brick Arch Linux,

I’ll actually get the hang of it one day, but until then unlimited free retries 🎉

Not even nuclear is safe from drill baby drill.
Advanced nuclear can commence construction before the end of 2028 to qualify. Good luck banking a nascent nuclear renaissance on that. Few if any projects can make that timeline, and at best, first of a kind reactors only. This will kill the US nuclear sector, such that it is. Nothing for geothermal
