I’ve been circling around this idea for awhile but didn’t have the skill to summarize what others have now done extremely eloquently:

Proposing the concept of misinformation exposure as a social determinant of health.

*prays to the fanfic gods* for courage, stamina, and executive functioning.

'Cause I'm gonna do something sooooooo stupid.

I'm going to collect a pile of my poems and submit them to a publisher.

I have zero confidence in anything coming of it, and I'll regret not trying.

For the first time in over 6 years, I actually flailed around with my flow toys.

First off, damn that's an absurdly long time. Never thought that would happen.

Secondly, woah, the amount that I can still do is absolutely surreal.

This a big deal: "China’s carbon dioxide emissions have been flat or falling for 18 months"

China's economy has grown by ~5% in the last year, so this comprehensively debunks the idea (again) that emissions are tied to growth. So yes, faster progress needed, but this is how you turn the corner.

Absolutely hilarious. 10/10 would recommend. I feel like I haven't laughed this much in years.

It’s really important that #Vancouver’s Downtown Business Association, who were originally against bike-lanes, are now among their most vigourous supporters, because of ACTUAL EVIDENCE that they’re better for downtown business than any street parking they replaced.

Safe bike-lanes mean business.

Reading this book was life changing for me.

I have it, and to have it removed is a disservice to science, and all genders.

He details how to be a good mentor. That knowledge is applicable to any circumstance.

*big sad*
We're disappointed to see Ben Barres's powerful book "The Autobiography of a Transgender Scientist" among the ~400 titles removed from the Naval Academy Library. Needless to say, we're proud to have published his book and will keep it — and his memory — alive.

One of my old PIs told me how surreal it was to her that people saw Barres at a conference (after transition) and would say things like "He's such a better speaker than his sister" and just be completely oblivious.

I want to spell this out in case the implications aren't clear:

This means all public tools/webapps of GISAID data (all the ones you've been used to seeing thru the pandemic, as far as we can tell) are prohibited.

The file allowed this. Cut that - cut off all tools the public & others were using.
On Oct 1, 2025, GISAID informed us that they had ended updates to the flat file of SARS-CoV-2 genomic sequences and associated metadata that we had used to update Nextstrain analyses since Feb 2020. GISAID's stated rationale was that their "resources are limited". 1/5

I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.
