I can almost remember the day in my area, when the streets became full of the former residents of the local "mental hospital."
Striking chart. Lots of factors drove these trend-lines, of course. But one that drove both is “the Sixties”—that is, Cuckoo’s Nest-R.D. Laing-Thomas Szaz convincing people mental illness is a “myth” & demonizing mental hospitals, and violent crime tripling in a decade.
